As an experiment, I purchased five different types of the flaming bulbs sold at Amazon. These are the five (if you search for the product code listed below it will bring up the item):

It is "single mode" -necessary for operation on a timer.

It is important for anyone who wants to operate a flame effect bulb on an automatic timer, that the bulb be SINGLE MODE. Many LED flame bulbs are “3 mode” lamps. They must be turned on 3 times before they show the flame effect. No timer will turn the lamp On-off-on-off-on. So forget using a timer on most of them. But this one works fine on a timer.

Love this bulb it is so worth the money , my porch light looks like an old gas light. It flickers like a real fire , but is bright enough for my front porch. Looks great with our Christmas decorations

Got a couple of them for Christmas last year. Decided to make them permanent for the front porch.
